Program at a glance

A year-long pathway from student to practice-ready pharmacist.

The L-APPE replaces disconnected introductions with coordinated experiences inside one integrated health system. Familiarity grows across the year, allowing more time for patient care, systems thinking, leadership, and professional formation.

Continuity

Students build lasting relationships with preceptors, teams, patients, and the organization while carrying learning forward.

Progressive independence

Supervision and coaching remain strong while responsibility increases as the student demonstrates readiness and earns trust.

Integrated learning

Clinical care, operations, safety, informatics, leadership, scholarship, and quality improvement are understood as one medication-use system.

Program structure

Required experiences

Advanced Institutional, Adult Acute Care, Advanced Community through CHRISTUS Specialty Pharmacy, and Ambulatory Care.

Elective opportunities
